Tour Plan :
Day 1: ARRIVAL INTO THE PEARL
Entebbe | Lake Victoria Shores & Botanical Gardens Welcome to Uganda. Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your safari guide and transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, the journey begins gently along the beautiful shores of Lake Victoria. Entebbe is one of the most rewarding introductions to Uganda's birdlife. Its combination of lakeshore, mature gardens, woodland and open spaces creates a remarkable diversity of species within a relatively small area. Later, enjoy a relaxed birding experience around the Entebbe Botanical Gardens, where towering trees, tropical vegetation and the sounds of Lake Victoria create the perfect first encounter with Uganda's avian world. Keep your eyes open for colourful turacos, hornbills, flycatchers, sunbirds and a variety of water-associated species. But more than anything, today is about arrival. Taking a breath. Feeling the warm African air. And realizing that for the next five days, the mornings will belong to birdsong. Accommodation: Entebbe Meal Plan: Dinner Possible Sightings
- Great Blue Turaco
- Ross's Turaco
- African Fish Eagle
- Black-and-white-casqued Hornbill
- African Paradise Flycatcher
- Various Weavers and Sunbirds
Day 2:IN SEARCH OF THE SHOE BILL
Mabamba Wetlands A meeting with one of Africa's most extraordinary birds. Rise early for one of the most unforgettable experiences in Uganda. After breakfast, journey towards the legendary Mabamba Wetlands, a vast network of papyrus channels and floating vegetation along Lake Victoria. Here, the adventure slows down. Board a traditional motorized canoe and glide quietly into the wetland. The water narrows. The papyrus rises around you. And somewhere ahead, standing almost motionless among the reeds, could be one of the most remarkable birds on Earth. The Shoebill. With its enormous bill and prehistoric appearance, seeing a Shoebill in its natural habitat is not simply a sighting. It is a moment. Mabamba is also rich with other wetland species, and the morning may reveal colourful kingfishers, herons, jacanas, pygmy geese, swamp warblers and papyrus specialists. After this extraordinary wetland experience, return to Entebbe and enjoy a relaxed afternoon. As evening approaches, reflect on a simple thought: Some birds are beautiful because of their colours. Others are unforgettable simply because they exist. Mabamba is widely recognized as a key Shoebill and wetland birding site, with canoe birding through papyrus channels forming the signature experience. Accommodation: Entebbe Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Key Target Species
- Shoebill
- African Pygmy Goose
- Purple Swamphen
- Long-toed Lapwing
- African Jacana
- Blue-breasted Bee-eater
- Papyrus Gonolek
- Weyns's Weaver
Day 3: FROM THE WATERS TO THE WILD
Entebbe → Lake Mburo National Park After an early breakfast, begin your journey westwards towards Lake Mburo National Park. The road itself becomes part of the safari. Uganda slowly changes before your eyes. The lush Lake Victoria basin gives way to rolling hills, open countryside and eventually the sweeping savannah landscapes of western Uganda. Enjoy scenic stops along the way, including an opportunity to stand at the Equator, before continuing towards Lake Mburo. Arrive in time for lunch and settle into your lodge. Later in the afternoon, head out for your first birding experience inside the park. Lake Mburo is wonderfully intimate. Unlike vast wildernesses where nature can feel distant, here you feel close to everything. Acacia trees, rolling hills, grasslands and lakes create a mosaic of habitats that attracts an impressive variety of birdlife. As the sun begins to soften, explore the tracks slowly. This is birding at Africa's pace. No rush. Just the vehicle moving gently through the wilderness, binoculars ready, and something always waiting to be discovered. Lake Mburo is especially valued on short birding circuits for its mix of acacia woodland, savannah and lake habitats, including several sought-after localized species. -

Day 4: THE MORNING BELONGS TO THE BIRDS
Exploring Lake Mburo National Park There is something special about an African morning. Before the sun rises completely, the wilderness begins to speak. This morning, head out early for a guided birding experience through Lake Mburo's beautiful landscapes. Depending on conditions, enjoy a combination of walking birding and slow game- drive exploration, allowing you to experience the environment at a more intimate pace. The park's acacia woodland holds some of Uganda's most interesting bird species, including the highly sought-after Red-faced Barbet. Later, return to the lodge for lunch and a short rest. In the afternoon, venture out once again—this time exploring deeper into the park's woodland and savannah habitats. But Lake Mburo is never only about birds. Between sightings, you may encounter zebras grazing peacefully, giraffes moving through the trees, impalas standing alert in the grass and buffalo disappearing into the distance. This is what makes the experience special. You never quite know what the next bend in the road will reveal. Day 5: THE LAST SONG OF THE WILD
Lakeside Birding & Return to Entebbe/Kampala Your final morning begins beside the waters of Lake Mburo. This is a beautiful habitat for a different collection of species. The shoreline, papyrus edges and quiet waters provide opportunities to search for some of the park's most elusive and rewarding birds. One of the special targets is the mysterious African Finfoot—a bird that rewards patience and quiet observation. Later, enjoy a tranquil boat safari, allowing you to experience the park from an entirely different perspective. African Fish Eagles call from above. Cormorants dry their wings. Kingfishers flash across the water. Hippos rise and disappear again. And for a final time, you simply sit back and watch nature unfold. After the cruise, begin your journey back towards Entebbe or Kampala, carrying with you not just photographs and a bird list—but something more difficult to describe. The memory of Uganda at dawn. The sound of wings in the papyrus. The stillness before a bird appears. And the realization that sometimes the most beautiful journeys are the ones where you learn to look closer. Lake Mburo's lakeshore and boat experiences are particularly associated with waterbirds and the search for species such as African Finfoot and papyrus specialists. Meal Plan: Breakfast & Lunch
